I found this one really interesting because the difference in 3- & 5-yo skill level really stands out, from the fullness of coloring to the precision in cutting. I loved seeing (and being reminded of!) it!

Then the V sticks, which are really just toys for making weird-style guns (sigh), but Papa made quite a few shapes after dinner one night, so ... way to go Papa! Good job in school ;)

We didn't think there'd be many examples to find in old Highlights magazines, but they did a great job!

Ada fed the turtles and Paul held one!

We went to Texas for Tt week; we ended up saving the tea party til we got back, and we also drew a tree from the branches down to the ground and the roots under the ground, but ... it was a rough week with Paul, poor dear, whether because of DST or who knows what, so we didn't get pictures of the tree drawing or get to the tabernacle talk. We'll revisit that when the 1st Friday comes up, and we can visit Adoration for a (very) few minutes.

There may have also been some naked trampoline fun...

Then we went to the zoo to see the sloth! But he was asleep ... and not very entertaining ;) The spider monkeys, however, were a big hit! Jack giggled for a good 5 minutes watching them, and we had fun anyway, despite the boring sloth ;)

The senses were fun to talk about, but we did not talk about, or learn, rather, the Sacraments. Too big? Too special? I don't know; we talk about the Eucharist lots, and Baptism's a fave around here, but we have not yet delved into "So there's this seven-fold group of blessings". We'll get there.

Yes, it's been 2 weeks. Mardi Gras happened, y'all. I let Colleen know we were a bit off and were likely to drag Rr out over 2 weeks, and somehow I still got to doing most days without the lesson. To be honest, since Dylan and I have come to the (what I think is a) conclusion of sending Paul to school come August, it's been really hard to want to do this at home. Not that this, in an of itself, isn't quite fun, really, but if I know I only have about 4 more months of life as I've known it - at-home-momming, full of playdates and picnics - why are we not going to the zoo! and the aquarium! and taking the ferry! everyday! Why am I putting the pressure on myself - and all of us - to keep this certain structure?

Then we sit down to do our Rr collage and start Ss, and Paul loves it. And he asks questions and is engaged, and it's wonderful. Then I wish it could always be this way.

It's easy to see that we haven't done school daily since before Mardi Gras because in this 10-day period, our little (chubba) JJ is now on the move! It was pretty distracting trying to do the lesson with an almost 9month old crawling to the book, then the board, then the scissors - ah! - and the glue. Paul and Ada thought it was hilarious, which, in turn, made me laugh it off, too. It's not the baby's fault we do all this stuff on the floor instead of at a table in some ideal homeschool nook.

Without further ado, here is our Rr work, I'll call it, as it most certainly was not a week.

And in all of this time, we only managed one family rosary decade. Sigh. Partly Mardi Gras' fault, but partly just our typical evening chaos' fault.
